On 27 April 2025, we teamed up with Matchasome for a special Sparks Social Club event – a hands-on matcha workshop exclusively for queer women*.
Matchasome, known for their high-quality ceremonial grade matcha, welcomed us for an intimate afternoon that blended flavor, creativity, and connection.
Whisk, Sip, Connect
The workshop began with a guided matcha ritual where guests learned how to whisk, pour, and enjoy their own perfect bowl of matcha. But more than that, it was about slowing down and sharing a moment – side by side with other inspiring queer women*.
After the workshop, we shifted into a social format: casual conversation supported by our Candid Connections conversation cards, designed to spark genuine interactions beyond the usual small talk.
A Space for Queer Women, Made With Intention
For many of our guests, this was not only the first time they tried the traditional Japanese drink the first time but also the first time they’d experienced an event tailored specifically to queer women* – and the energy in the room reflected just how needed that space is. From laughter to deep conversations, new friendships to new crushes, the event was a reminder that connection can start over something as simple as a shared cup of matcha.
Big thank you to Matchasome-founder Julia Winkels for allowing our guests (and us) to delve deeper into the rich culture of matcha harvesting, and guiding us through this special experience – and to all of our guests for showing up with curiosity, openness and heart.
